Blogger's Disclaimer: I am publishing this blog post to make the filipino people aware that because of the hacking discussed below, their personal information is now at risk and is available for anyone. I am against the use of the said information. I, too is a victim in this malicious act.
The COMELEC (Commission On Elections) was hacked last March 2016 by a group of hackers called LulzSec Philippines and apparently they were able to download the whole database COMELEC's system. The group made an online Search Engine which allows anyone to check a certain voter's full information.
I believe they did it for the sake of their profit. You can see they added a Google Advertisement at the top of their website, and I am not putting their URL here, as I believe it is against the Philippine Law.
[REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10173]
AN ACT PROTECTING INDIVIDUAL PERSONAL INFORMATION IN INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS IN THE GOVERNMENT AND THE PRIVATE SECTOR, CREATING FOR THIS PURPOSE A NATIONAL PRIVACY COMMISSION, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
Update: Hi all, as of today, April 21, 2016 4:51 PM, Rappler posted a news online that the hacker of the Comelec site was arrested. Guess what? The hacker is merely a fresh graduate.
Can he/she put it in his/her resume though? I guess not. You can read it here: http://www.rappler.com/nation/politics/elections/2016/130252-suspected-hacker-comelec-website-nabbed
